This rainy, grey day is making me move slowly like fiona in honey… heavy with mood… I need a nut burger and a large chocolate milkshake.

it has taken me a few weeks to get cozy with Virb. i just didn’t know if it had the steam to catch on, but after spending a couple months the waste-of-time-lameness that are fb and myspace, hanging out with Virb (cutomizable CSS and all) was a welcomed change for the better. There are many cool things about Virb. One of them being that it’s pretty good friends with uber tech-nerd micro-blog Twitter which is kind of a “must have” if you are at all serious about being an iNerd. And i am. Serious.

Also, I finally got my Redpilot Flickr together and upgraded to PRO. I know. I’m seriously in it to win. Now I just have kick it into high gear and finish my website design for Redpilot. Coming soon. I promise.

Status report: Lisa is hooked up.

What I need:

A place to upload photo, video, and audio content in a nice, clean web space where I can network with other “media” people and share my thoughts, gain info and inspiration.

These are my current social networking options (within reason — there a hundreds of them!)

  1. myspace is a gong show. A show about a gong. It is not for me. Period.
  2. Tagged looks too much like an ad Red Bull or Target to be taken seriously. (Sorry Arry!)
  3. friendster is much too Googly. Too much Google scares me.
  4. facebook is a quarter to “dunzo” — thanks to the following lame* things:
  • The Great 3rd party Application Invasion” (See Lamefactor, where you can anonymously judge your friends. Yeah, that’s healthy!? And after playing that fun game, you can find a happy hour near you, cuz a temporary drunken haze will make you feel much better about anonymously judging your friends.)
  • Facebook’s top secret dealings with big business and the CIA. (Oh what a tangled web we weave…)
  • the “poke”, now the super poke, x me, etc. i don’t get it. do you?
  • and the sheer quantity of time it takes to filter through the insignificant play-by-play mini- feeds of people leaving groups, joining networks, adding or retracting their favourite songs to actually get to what you really want to know:

how great do I look in this profile picture? hey?

You look exactly the same.

yeah, well I actually lost a bit of weight since high school, you know, pilates, yoga and dieting. Actually, there is this great facebook application that counts all the calories you eat each day. Wow. It’s been great. Well, except the eating disorder flare up. anyway, how are you? Oh. Yeah. Well, I’m really happy. HAPPY. Can’t you see how much I’m SMILING in these pictures with me and my BOYFRIEND in CANCUN. Yeah, it was pretty fun.

NB. there are cool people on facebook (like Merlin for instance) and reconnecting and sharing stories and photos with the bright lights in my life has been great.

The point is:
I need to increase productivity and start getting Redpilot’s web presence established on the www asap.
Lately I’ve been musing about VIRB… More on that tomorrow.

I like to hear from you:
What social networking site do you use and why do you like it?

Mice.

Help! I need a new wireless mouse (not the furry kind).

I have tried 4 different wireless mice and they were all super crappy.

These wireless mice are no good!

  1. Apple Mighty Mouse (An ergonomic nightmare = Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Ouch!)
  2. Logitec LX7 (Very poor reception. I could not get more than 2 ft from the receiver.)
  3. Logitec V400 (Poor reception. Tracking was horrible!! The worst mouse ever!)
  4. Kensington PilotMouse Laser wireless (great mouse, but the scroll wheel broke!!)

I am forced to use this really old Microsoft mouse which is kind of pathetic, but it honestly is the most accurate and comfortable mouse I’ve found.. So I need your help nerds! Please help me find a good mouse!!

I just finished watching Deja Vu (2006) (Leading Man: Denzel). Tony Scott’s visionary filmmaking totally blew my mind again. The camera moves were so ridiculous… completely seamless. He just gets it. And it doesn’t hurt to have uber techy spy gear… tons of action… exploding things… smart & nerdy exposition (with drawings) about wormholes, branching time lines etc. and actual time travel to top off all the crazy technocool things in this amazing film.

Here are some Tony Scott must see films:

Man on Fire (2004)
Domino (2005)
Spy Game (2001)
Enemy of the State (1998)
Top Gun (1983)
